Meet the Artist
During her years of training at Paier College of Art in CT and the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC, Marisol was influenced by the grand beauty of baroque architecture, couture fashion and the Renaissance masters. She had the opportunity to observe great paradoxes in life from those living in the streets to those living in penthouses, from the owners of small bodegas to the members at private country clubs - and yet all, from within, were very much the same. These paradoxes challenged her to seek the spiritual truths that underpin us all as members of the human race.
Marisol has owned several creative businesses ranging from children’s room design and portraits to opening her local studio in Norfolk, VA and offering private painting lessons and events for adult, teens and special needs students. She has served as an art instructor in a local school and currently is finishing a collection of work titled “Blueprints of Light”. She has been hired for several private commissions including a custom painting and fine art prints for The Encounter Today program.
“We learn in layers. Over time putting the experiences and lessons learned together until we have a clearer perspective. This is how I work through each painting. Asking questions and seeking the sparks of truth. These initial sparks inform my base image and as I work through the painting, new things are revealed and they are incorporated in layers. This results in a many-layered art piece that has several “reveals” embedded throughout. I often select light sources to accentuate these “reveal” points. I strive for a completed work that merges antiquity and the present. A piece that has a timeless quality but will speak to you here and now.” -Marisol
